by Hello everyone, I’m back! I’m sorry to have been absent from my blog for a long time, but 2023 has not been an easy year for me.
I think many of you have heard about my bad crash during Ride London at the end of May, in which I got a triple fracture of my jaw and a fracture of my right scaphoid. I went through the rehabilitation process with great determination and a desire to get back on my bike as soon as possible. All my sacrifices and those of the people who have been by my side were rewarded by several podiums and a wonderful victory in the season finale at the SIMAC Ladies Tour!
It is finally time to put this unfortunate 2023 behind me and face the new season with great motivation! I would say that 2024 could not have started in a better way: two medals at the European Track Championships!
The first medal, of the most precious metal, came in the team pursuit: our race was perfect from the qualification, at the end of which we recorded the best time. After the semifinal against France we faced the world champions (Great Britain) in the final: the race was very close until the last kilometer in which we managed to make the difference and cross the finish line about three seconds ahead! It was very exciting to return to the top step of the podium in this specialty at the continental championships after seven years! For this I really want to thank my teammates Martina Fidanza, Letizia Paternoster and Vittoria Guazzini to whom I would also like to add Chiara Consonni and Martina Alzini who were reserves on this occasion.
The second medal, this time bronze, was won by me and Vittoria Guazzini after a hard-fought madison. It was a very challenging race, especially because being January my condition is still not the best, but we never gave up and stopped believing in the possibility of getting on the podium!
In the end our tenacity paid off!
Now it is time to get back on the road with a training camp in Spain together with my Lidl-Trek teammates to prepare for the first races of the season, I will start on February 15 with the Setmana Ciclista Volta Femenina de la Comunitat Valenciana.
