Here I am!

With Matrix GYM

This month, as I had already anticipated in my last article, I was totally focused on training and I didn’t participate in any competition. I did a hard block of work in the gym to improve my power and I went very often to the velodrome of Montichiari with my national team-mates to make some specific work in preparation to my great goal: Tokyo 2021!

I also went on an altitude training camp in Livigno with the national team during which we continued with the strength work in the gym, but we also began to pedal several kilometers on our bikes making beautiful routes, such as the climb to the lakes of Cancano.

This program, like the one that will be waiting for me in the next two months, has been carefully studied to try to arrive this summer to the maximum condition. Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic, our program has already been modified several times: all the track’s World Cups have been cancelled and just recently we have learned that the European track championships that were supposed to take place in Minsk at the end of the month have also been cancelled. It is not easy to keep changing the plans but I am ready to adapt and fight despite the difficult situation in which the whole world finds itself!

Laghi di Cancano

Yesterday, after more than a month, I raced again on the road with my Valcar Travel&Service. I took part at the Dwars Door de Westjoek, a 1.1 race in Belgium that I finished with a good seventh place, it was a great competition to start racing on the road and also a great training to help me regain the race pace and transform all the strength work done in the past month.

I’m going to write my next appointments here:

  • 13 June 2021 SPAR Flanders Diamond Tour 1.1 (Belgium)
  • 20 June 2021 Italian road Championships (Puglia)
  • 30 June/5 July 2021 Sei giorni delle Rose (Fiorenzuola)

I’ll continue to keep you updated!
